QCP Children’s Center Delivers a Magical Disney-Themed Carnival for Students and Families

On Thursday, March 20th, the Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) Children’s Center turned into the happiest place in Queens during its Disney-themed carnival—a private, free event exclusively for QCP students and their families.

From 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the building buzzed with laughter and excitement as each classroom transformed into a series of colorful, activity-filled stations inspired by some of Disney’s most beloved characters. Students tossed snowballs, went fishing with Moana, played mini-golf, and tested their aim at a castle ring toss—all while proudly wearing their handmade Mickey Mouse ears.

Families snapped photos together at a whimsical themed backdrop and joined in on the fun, making memories alongside their children. In the Magic Kingdom Room, students got crafty and participated in an interactive smartboard activity before heading off for the grand finale: A Tunnel Walk lined with fairy tale characters waving and handing out special treats as they headed out. Councilman James F. Gennaro also made an appearance at today’s event.

“This carnival was pure joy with laughter echoing through our hallways,” said Cindy Heller, Director of the QCP Children’s Center. “It is these shared experiences that help our children build confidence, feel celebrated, and know that their families are part of their learning journey.”

“Visiting the QCP Children’s Center and seeing the joy on the children’s faces was truly heartwarming,” said Councilman James F. Gennaro. “Events like this show the incredible dedication of the staff and the power of bringing families together through fun and creativity. QCP is a gem in our community, and I am proud to be part of their community of supporters.”

Located in Jamaica, Queens, the QCP Children’s Center offers early childhood education and services for children with developmental disabilities and typically developing children, helping each child grow through hands-on learning, creativity, and personalized support.
