QCP Partners with Row New York

For the second year in a “row”, Queens Centers for Progress partnered with Row New York and took part in an 8-week Adaptive Rowing Program. Participants met weekly and learned how to strengthen their upper bodies and properly maneuver the boats out on the lake at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. In addition to the exercise and physical aspect of the program, rowing helps build self-esteem and gives one a sense of self-worth, knowing that you can learn a new skill and apply it in such a great way!

Row New York has a long history of coordinating learn-to-row events for adaptive athletes. It is one of the only adaptive rowing programs on the east coast. The accessibility of the boathouse and the equipment offers a unique opportunity for adaptive athletes to learn the fundamentals of such a unique and challenging Olympic sport.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with QCP as it is important to us to be serving Queens residents of all abilities. We hope for this partnership to extend far into the future.”–Rachel Cytron, Row New York Executive Director.
