Team QCP 2014, a group of six extraordinary people who proudly represented QCP at TCS New York City Marathon’s last November, raised over $32,000. All proceeds are going towards QCP’s programs and services that make a difference in the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.
Team QCP 2014 runners included: Mercedes Chris Ozcan, President, Fit Travel Go, a unique travel and fitness company based in New York that provides customize fitness travel itineraries; Brian Rooney, account executive at Mutual Of America; Jennifer Lawrence, manager at Corporate Communications, NYSID; Thomas Murray, Loreal Company; Michael Ambrosino, vice president at Ambrosino Construction; Wendy Phaff, development assistant at QCP; and Bernard J. Williams, Esq., who QCP welcomed back for a 3rd time.
Jennifer Lawrence joined Team QCP last year in memory of her husband, who was a runner and passed away after his battle with cancer. Lawrence noted that Team QCP 2014 was truly the running experience of her life and she is looking forward to returning to this year’s run.
Lawrence commented, “I had run two previous marathons three years beforehand, but this was almost a new experience for its size and my expectations. To say that it didn’t exceed those expectations on every level, from the crowds to my performance, is an understatement: it blew me away! My best moment was seeing my two daughters, ages 22 and 27, waiting for me at the office Team QCP cheer section, exchanging hugs and taking photos. The glow of that moment will live on for us forever. I’m very proud to return to represent for the wonderful programs at Queens Centers for Progress in November 2015. Running for people with disabilities gives great meaning to each mile.”
As a 2015 TCS New York City Marathon Charity Partner, QCP is granted spots in the Marathon and offers runners committed to raising funds for QCP Guaranteed entry. Non-runners are also needed during the race to volunteer and support or team. Don’t miss out on this milestone event.
