TeamQCP Runners Start Spring Workouts

Queens Centers for Progress now has a running team!

Individuals from QCP’s Day Services program began their workouts on January 16th, 2020.  QCP Staff lead the enthusiastic group in warmups, drills and a run/walk regimen that will ready them for their first competitive 5K- the agency’s community run/walk- the Footsteps for Progress 5K.

For the past 4 years, the group participated in fall only workouts with the Women’s Track Team at St. John’s University. The individuals enjoyed the program so much, they decided to make it a year round program.  Team QCP, which also includes members of the community who sign up for marathons and other endurance events to raise money for the agency, now has thirty five new members!

In addition to the health benefits of the program, the participants gain self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment and pride as they set their goal to complete the 5K.

The group works out in the auditorium at QCP but QCP is searching for an indoor track for the winter.  Please reach out to Jyoti Lakhani 718-380-3000 x297 for more information.
