Full Marathon Preparations Underway at QCP

Queens Centers for Progress is preparing for the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon taking place on November 6th in

New York City. QCP cordially invites all interested runners to sign up for the 26.2-mile full marathon run, as well as cheering squads to root for Team QCP.

“We are still recruiting runners for this exciting event,” said Assistant Director of Development Wendy Phaff, who, herself, has signed as a returning runner. “Other returning Team QCP run

ners include Tom Murray, Frank McKenna and Jennifer Lawrence. The TCS New York City Marathon full marathon course begins in Staten Island and takes runners across all 5 Boroughs and ends in Central Park. This marks the 6th year QCP is participating in this world-renowned event where Team QCP has proudly raised over $100,000 for QCP programs.

Even if running is not your forte, there are many opportunities to help QCP on race day including volunteers to help at its cheering stations.

“We are also looking for volunteers to cheer at our Cheer Station in Long Island City the day of the race,” Phaff said. “Our cheer station is a joint effort between QCP, the Queens Tourism Council and the Queens Distance Runners.”

All registered runners receive a training program prior to the race; a race day t-shirt; dinner; and the satisfaction of running in the most celebrated marathons in the world.
