QCP Hosts Annual Gala With “Summer Of ’69” Theme

JAMAICA, NY – On June 25, 2019 QCP hosted its annual gala at Terrace on the Park in Queens. The theme was the “Summer of ’69,” in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of that fabled year. This event recognized individuals who deserve thanks and admiration for their unparalleled service to the community, and all proceeds go to benefit more than 1500 people with developmental disabilities served by QCP throughout Queens.

Greg Mocker of WPIX-11 TV served as emcee.

This year’s distinguished honorees were:
Man Of The Year, Douglas J. Meyer, SVP, Bank Leumi USA
Woman Of The Year, Francine Salomon, President, JFA Insurance Brokerage & Associates, Inc.
Business Woman Of The Year, Nancy Vargas, CEO, DH2 Chauffered Transportation
Legislator Of The Year, Hon. David. I. Weprin, NYS Assemblyman District 24

There was a commemoration of Ed Charles of the 1969 “Amazin'” Mets. Mr. Charles was a devoted supporter and visitor of QCP. Kristen Mantel of Baron and Baron Law read a moving tribute about Mr. Charles. David Baron of the firm introduced Mr. Charles to QCP in 2011.

Perfect weather, and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline from the Terrace offered the perfect setting for a night of reflection, networking and fun. The “Summer of ’69” motif was evident in the form of photo backdrops of the Apollo Moon Walk, the Mets Shea Stadium, and a ’60’s psychedelic collage.

QCP Executive Director, Terri Ross, commented, “Our Gala was one of our most successful in years. Nearly 200 people turned out to honor four individuals who have a sincere interest in QCP and the people we serve.”
