QCP Blends Successful Ingredients at “Evening of Fine Foods Event”

A triple treat was had by all as Queens Centers for Progress recently hosted its Evening of Fine Food Event that included delectable dishes from area restaurants, wine tasting and casino table fun at Terrace on the Park in Flushing.

The mood was one of excitement and enthusiasm as over 300 people gathered to celebrate and honor five exemplary community members as the Event’s “Chefs of the Year.” Honored for their dedication to making a positive difference in the community were: Charles R. Catalano R.Ph. and Brenda Catalano of C&S Pharmacy Consultants; Neil Levin, Vice President of Webline Designs; and Andy Gioe and Brian Kelly of Cascon Baking Company. This year’s Emcee, WPIX Reporter Greg Mocker, also brought a dash of spice to the event.

The Evening of Fine Food, simply put, is a food tasting frenzy made possible by restauranteurs who so graciously prepare exquisite food. Guests sampled signature dishes from these fine restaurants in Queens, including, London Lennies, Vivaldi’s Pappazzio’s, Marbella Restaurant, Anthony’s, Tequila Sunrise, and many more.

“Without these wonderful restaurants supporting our event, we could not have had such a successful event,” said QCP Executive Director Charles Houston. “QCP highly encourages our community to visit these restaurants throughout the year. We thank these restaurants, WPIX, our sponsors and guests for supporting our services that enhance the quality of independent life choices available to the individuals and their families.”

Sponsors for an Evening of Fine Food included Investors Bank, D & F Development Group, QPTV, New York Community Bank and Cathay Bank.

Proceeds from the event will benefit QCP’s programs and services, which serve over 1,200 children and adults who are challenged by mild to severe developmental disabilities.
