QCP’s Evening of Fine Food Honoring Joseph Sciame and Hon. Claire Shulman Enjoyed By All
It may have been cold out this winter, but a warm gathering showed up for Queens Centers for Progress’ Evening of Fine Food held on January28th at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Park. The event was graciously emceed by Channel 7- Eyewitness News ReporterJosh Einiger and it raised $35,000 for QCP’s programs.
This annual fundraising event is a food tasting party that welcomes hundreds of guests to enjoy delicious dishes from our area’s finest eateries. This year, QCP welcomed 40 of Queens’ top restaurants, including Vivaldi in Bayside; London Lennies in Woodhaven; Trattoria Neo in Whitestone; Dazies in Sunnyside; and Deluge in Flushing.
The 2014 honorees and “Chefs of the Year” were Joseph Sciame, Vice-President for Community Relations at St. John’s University; and Hon. Claire Shulman, who was the 17th Borough President of Queens, serving from 1986 to 2002.
Each year, guests look forward to an Evening of Fine Food’s informal fine dining and great networking opportunities. The event also included a silent auction with autographed items from the New York Mets and Jets and a multitude of artistic prints ranging from Picasso to Norman Rockwell.
Evening of Fine Food benefited the 1,200 children and adults with disabilities who participate in QCP’s daily services. It was a great evening for socializing and interacting with community members and sampling gourmet dishes by local restaurants, chefs, wineries and bakeries. QCP appreciates all those who participated and supported this event including local restaurants, guests and volunteers.
