Come Join 2015 Footsteps For Progress Walk – Walk Teams Raising Awareness & Funds

Queens Centers for Progress’ Annual Footsteps for Progress Walk is taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Footsteps for Progress is a 5-mile Walk from the QCP Center (81-15 164th Street in Jamaica) to Kissena Park, around the park and back to QCP.

WPIX Reporter Narmeen Chodhury will be the MC for the Walk as well as host the brunch taking place immediately following the Walk. Additionally, for the third consecutive year, QCP is honored to name New York State Senator Tony Avella as the event’s Grand Marshal.

Many teams have signed up for the Walk, including Cecelia Reilly’s team, which consists of Cecelia, her two nieces and one sister. Cecelia is proud to announce that her team has already surpassed its goal of raising $2,000 for QCP and its programs.

“So far, we have raised $3,940 and we are hoping to raise even more,” said Cecelia, whose brother, Bob, is celebrating his one-year anniversary living at Groh this May.
Moving to Groh was an adjustment for Bob, who moved there after living at home for 55 years.

Cecelia commented, “It was difficult for him but with the help of dedicated support staff, he seems to be adjusting very well.”

Since Bob has moved into Groh, he has become more outgoing. “He is learning to make decisions, create new friendships and most of all, this new independence provides him with quality of life,” Cecelia says.

Bob will be joining Cecelia and her team as they participate in the 2015 Footsteps for Progress Walk. Come out an join them and the hundreds of participants who make Footsteps for Progress Walk a spectacular event each year.
