Day Habilitation Bellerose and 164 St

Day Habilitation BelleroseQCP’s Day Habilitation programs, based at Bellerose and the 81-15 164 Street Adult Center, are built around individually-designed services to promote independent living skills.  Many Day Hab activities take place in the community where participants learn travel and money handling skills, learn to make shopping choices, community safety awareness, and volunteer in parks, libraries, and senior centers.

“Clubs” focusing on photography, horticulture, recreation, and sensory awareness are part of the programs’ offerings.  Some of the artwork and photography produced by the clubs have been exhibited throughout New York City.  Participants in one of our Day Hab programs produce musical reviews that draw many people from outside QCP.  Activities that are social or recreational offer many opportunities for skill acquisition and personal growth.

Day Habilitation BelleroseParticipants also work on self-care and household skills that enable them to be more independent at home.  These include personal grooming and hygiene, meal preparation, doing laundry, and caring for clothing and other personal belongings.

The Bellerose Day Program offers clinical services to complement independent living activities.  These include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, psychology, and nursing.

Transportation, including wheelchair accessible vehicles, is available to those who require it.
