QCP DAY SERVICES STAFF RECEIVE LEADERSHIP AWARDS

On May 26, 2010, Day Services Supervisor Michelle Jardine and Day Services Asistant Jeffrey Howard received Leadership Award Certificates at the annual Leadership Awards Ceremony of the New York City Chapter of the New York State Association of Day Service Providers (ADSP).  Ms. Jardine and Mr. Howard work in the 164th Street Day Habilitation Program; they were nominated by Josie Davide, Assistant Director of Day Services.

The ceremony took place at the Lifespire Center in Richmond Hill, New York.  The event’s guest speaker was Jill Gentile, NYS OPWDD Associate Commissioner.

The awards were presented to recipients by Kevin Kenney, ADSP Board President and Program Director, Cerebral Palsy NYS.  Remarks were also made by the Director of the ADSP NYC Chapter, Michael Kaplan.

Michelle was awarded for serving as an exceptional role model for her staff.  She has been a supervisor for seven years and employed for almost eight years at QCP.  Michelle is very innovative in her programming techniques; she has an impressive ability to plan and teach activities that are interesting and creative.

Jeffrey received his award because he motivates the individuals in the Day Program through his creative approach to community programming.  Jeffrey has created a unique programming concept by teaching art, photography and videotaping while guiding his groups through many historical, interesting and off-beat New York City locations.
